Research claims - even after 2 years of recovery, at least one symptom is present in 55% of people

Even after two years of recovery from corona, 55% of people admitted to the hospital still have at least one symptom. This claim has been made in a recent research published in the Lancet Respiratory Medicine journal. Scientists say that the virus has a bad effect on physical health as well as mental health. This makes the quality of life of the patients much worse than before.

What symptoms are present in the recovered patients?

According to scientists, long-term symptoms include fatigue, difficulty breathing, muscle pain and sleep disturbances. These are being seen as symptoms of Long Kovid. This means, even though the virus has been removed from the body, its symptoms do not end. These symptoms may persist for a few weeks, months or even years.

Rachel Evans of Britain's National Institute for Health and Care Research says that the ability to exercise, mental health, organ functioning and living standards of corona patients who have recovered after hospitalization are severely affected.

Research on people who got sick in China

In this research, 1,192 such people were included who were infected during the corona outbreak in China. That is, they got sick in the first phase of the epidemic. He was treated at Jin Yin-Tan Hospital in Wuhan City from 7 January 2020 to 29 May 2020. The mean age of patients at discharge from hospital was 57 years and 54% of these were male.

68% people have long covid after 6 months of being corona

The scientists assessed the health of the participants at intervals of 6 months, 1 year and 2 years. Various types of tests were included in the study, such as 6-minute walking, corona symptoms test, mental health test, work-related questions etc. According to the results, 68% of people were found to have at least one symptom of long covid after 6 months of recovery from corona. At the same time, after two years, a symptom was found in 55% of the people.

Loss of appetite, muscle weakness is the most common symptom

Talking about mental health, 35% of people are experiencing headache and 19% people are having symptoms of anxiety and depression. Most of the patients of Long Kovid also have problems related to mobility and activity.

In research, scientists have suggested that more research should be done on these symptoms to reduce the risk of long covid. Earlier, a study conducted in Britain said that only 1 out of every 4 hospitalized patients considered themselves completely fine after 1 year.
